Indonesia, Mongolia Explore Reciprocal Presidential Visits to Mark 70 Years of Ties

Jakarta, August 24, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir has proposed reciprocal visits between President Prabowo Subianto and his Mongolian counterpart in 2026, as part of efforts to commemorate 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The proposal was raised during Nasir’s bilateral meeting with Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh on the sidelines of the 10th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) of the Forum for East Asia–Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), held in Ulaanbaatar from August 20 to 23.

“A visit by the Indonesian president to Mongolia, or vice versa, would mark a historic milestone in bilateral relations,” Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

During the talks, both sides underscored the importance of strengthening people-to-people exchanges and extending mutual support in international forums. To further deepen cooperation, Nasir encouraged the implementation of a memorandum of understanding on political consultation signed during Batmunkh’s visit to Jakarta on May 21. He also congratulated Mongolia for successfully hosting the FEALAC gathering.

Minister Batmunkh described Indonesia as a valuable partner and expressed confidence that bilateral ties would advance through closer collaboration.

On the sidelines of the FEALAC meeting, Nasir also held discussions with Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs, Sim Ann. He noted the increasing frequency of high-level exchanges under President Prabowo’s administration.

Ann praised Indonesia’s humanitarian aid initiative for Gaza and voiced support for international efforts to secure recognition of Palestine. In response, Nasir reaffirmed Indonesia’s steadfast commitment to standing with the Palestinian people, amplifying their voices, and advancing the two-state solution.

Indonesia and Singapore also reiterated their mutual commitment to support one another in international forums.
