Vietnam to Open National Achievements Exhibition Marking 80th Anniversary

Vietnam

Hanoi, August 27, 2025 – The Europe Today:  Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has directed that the opening ceremony of the National Achievements Exhibition — a landmark political and cultural event celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2) — be organised with solemnity, care, and grandeur, leaving a lasting impression of its scale and national significance.

Attending the final rehearsal of the opening programme in Hanoi on Tuesday evening, the Prime Minister emphasized that the artistic performance should serve as a “feast of art,” acting as the highlight of the ceremony.

He underlined that the exhibition is a key feature in the series of commemorative activities, offering the Party, people, and armed forces an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s glorious journey while inspiring aspirations for a prosperous and happy future.

Prime Minister Chính instructed that the artistic performance should foster a joyful, uplifting, and vigorous atmosphere, brimming with determination as Vietnam embarks on a new era. He elaborated that the programme must embody varied artistic qualities: symphonies should be dignified and majestic, light music vibrant and powerful, and folk music warm and melodious.

He further urged the incorporation of dynamic and vivid imagery showcasing Vietnam’s landscapes, culture, history, and people, combined with music to create “an artistic feast of emotions.” The programme, he stressed, must blend tradition with modernity, crafting a performance space that is both solemn and intimate, conveying pride in history, unity, and the aspiration to build a strong and prosperous nation.

Following the rehearsal, the Prime Minister inspected exhibition preparations, encouraging officials, staff, and technicians at provincial, ministerial, and sectoral booths to take pride in their contributions and ensure the highest standards in presenting displays to welcome citizens and visitors.

Speaking at the rehearsal, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyễn Văn Hùng noted that after more than a month of intensive preparations, arrangements for the opening ceremony were largely complete. He confirmed that the National Achievements Exhibition, held under the theme “80-Year Journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness,” will officially open at 8:30am on Thursday.

According to Minister Hùng, the opening ceremony will feature a 45 to 50-minute artistic performance designed to express national pride in Vietnam’s achievements in nation-building, protection, and development over the past eight decades. The programme will combine symphonic chamber music, folk traditions, and contemporary styles, with stirring opening melodies praising the Fatherland, followed by performances reflecting the country’s renewal, integration, and aspirations for future progress.

Renowned artists, supported by modern sound and lighting effects, will contribute to the performance, ensuring a vibrant and memorable celebration of Vietnam’s 80-year journey of independence and development.
