Islamabad, August 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: Uzbekistan and Pakistan are taking concrete steps to strengthen their economic partnership through enhanced trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.
Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Alisher Tukhtaev, held a key meeting with H.E. Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Industry and Minister of Industries and Production. The discussions focused on practical measures to expand economic collaboration, establish joint ventures, and launch new projects in industry, transport, and finance.
Both sides highlighted the importance of simplifying financial transactions between the two countries and agreed to regularly organize Uzbekistan–Pakistan Business Forums to boost business-to-business engagement. They also emphasized the role of entrepreneurs in advancing cooperation within free economic and industrial zones.
Particular attention was given to the introduction of the successful experience of the Airitom Free Zone in Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region, with proposals to apply similar models in Pakistan’s border areas.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to ensure the full and timely implementation of all bilateral commitments. A joint mechanism will be established to effectively address emerging challenges and monitor progress.
Officials underlined that Uzbekistan and Pakistan are not only economic partners but also strategic allies, working together to open new horizons for their peoples and businesses.
