Ashgabat, August 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has extended an official invitation to President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung to attend an international forum scheduled for December 12 in Ashgabat. The event will commemorate the International Year of Peace and Trust and mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, according to state media reports.
The invitation was conveyed during a telephone conversation held on August 29. At the outset of the call, the two heads of state exchanged congratulations and reaffirmed the spirit of mutual understanding underpinning Turkmen-Korean relations. President Berdimuhamedov conveyed his best wishes to President Lee in fulfilling his duties as head of state. In turn, President Lee expressed gratitude for the warm sentiments and underlined the strategic significance of bilateral ties.
The discussion also addressed a wide spectrum of cooperation, including trade and economic collaboration, the implementation of major industrial projects with the participation of Korean companies, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges. Both leaders further emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts in international platforms, particularly within the “Central Asia–Republic of Korea” format.
In closing, President Lee expressed appreciation for the invitation to Ashgabat and highlighted the broad international support for Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality.
