Ashgabat Hosts Briefing on Turkmenistan’s Priority Positions at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly

Ashgabat, August 31, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a briefing on Saturday dedicated to the country’s Priority Positions for the upcoming milestone 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The event brought together senior officials and staff of the Foreign Ministry, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Ashgabat, as well as members of the national media.

In his address, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov underscored the significance of the forthcoming 80th session, describing it as an important milestone symbolizing the resilience and continued relevance of multilateral diplomacy.

He emphasized that Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality—built on trust and mutual respect—serves as an effective tool for strengthening stability, preventing conflicts, and fostering international cooperation.

Participants exchanged views and expressed support for further close cooperation in implementing the objectives outlined in Turkmenistan’s Priority Positions for the General Assembly session.

The briefing highlighted Turkmenistan’s active and constructive role in peacebuilding, advancing regional and global stability, and promoting sustainable development.
