Islamabad, August 31, 2025 – The Europe Today: On the occasion of Romanian Language Day, the Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, H.E. Dan Stoenescu, announced that the first Romanian language lecturer, Ms. Oana Ursache, will soon arrive in Islamabad. Her appointment marks a significant milestone in academic and cultural exchange between Romania and Pakistan.
Ms. Ursache, a Doctor of Philology with specialization in comparative literature, culturology, and Hispanic, Oriental, Pre-Columbian, and Arabic literatures, brings extensive academic expertise and international teaching experience. She has previously served as a lecturer in Romanian language and literature at Ștefan cel Mare University in Suceava, the University of Alicante, the University of Granada, and Arizona State University. In 2021, she also held the position of Secretary of State at the Department for Romanians Abroad (DRP).
Her upcoming role at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Islamabad will add great value to the institution’s academic community and contribute to the promotion of Romanian language and culture across Pakistan.
The Romanian language courses, introduced for the first time in Pakistan, are expected to strengthen bilateral ties and foster deeper cultural understanding between the two nations. With Pakistan’s population of nearly a quarter of a billion people, the initiative represents a unique opportunity to enhance academic cooperation and cultural diplomacy.
The Embassy of Romania extended its appreciation to the Romanian Language Institute for its support and continuous efforts in advancing this important project.
