Ambassador of Turkmenistan Discusses Prospects of Port Cooperation with Pakistan

Islamabad, September 02, 2025 – The Europe Today: Ambassador of Turkmenistan A. Movlamov held a meeting with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar on Monday to discuss the effective utilization of regional transit and logistics potential through key seaports, including Turkmenbashi, Karachi, and Gwadar. Both sides recognized the strategic importance of these ports in facilitating regional trade and transport links.

The discussions also highlighted broad prospects for cooperation in the development of railway infrastructure, seen as a vital component for establishing sustainable transport connectivity across the region.

Emphasizing the significance of multilateral collaboration, the parties underlined Pakistan’s strategic position as a bridge for fostering stronger economic ties, diversifying supply routes, and enhancing the region’s overall transit capabilities.

Concluding the meeting, the Ambassador and the Minister reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a constructive dialogue and stressed the urgency of translating joint initiatives into tangible projects. Both sides agreed that such efforts will contribute to sustainable economic growth, improved regional connectivity, and deeper bilateral and multilateral partnerships.
