Beijing, September 02, 2025 – The Europe Today: A women’s delegation from Turkmenistan paid a working visit to the People’s Republic of China, during which a series of high-level meetings were held aimed at deepening cooperation in the fields of education, healthcare, culture, and humanitarian affairs. The visit highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy as a strategic investment in fostering long-term stability, prosperity, and friendship between the two nations.
The delegation was led by Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship. On the first day of the visit, Atabayeva met with Huai Jinpeng, China’s Minister of Education. The Chinese side commended the Charity Fund for its commitment to both supporting children in need and promoting access to high-quality inclusive education. Atabayeva, in turn, expressed Turkmenistan’s interest in learning from China’s experience in developing special and inclusive education for children with disabilities.
The Turkmen delegation also held talks with Zeng Yixin, Deputy Head of China’s National Health Commission. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the humanitarian and healthcare sectors. Atabayeva underlined Turkmenistan’s interest in China’s expertise in the treatment of oncological and genetic diseases in children and emphasized the importance of professional training for medical personnel. Zeng expressed China’s readiness to share its technological advancements and experience as a contribution to strengthening the global healthcare system.
Another key meeting took place with Li Bin, Head of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation. The two sides underscored the long-standing friendship between the Turkmen and Chinese peoples and expressed their intention to enrich humanitarian relations through socially oriented projects. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charity Fund and the Soong Ching Ling Foundation to promote closer cooperation.
Atabayeva also met with Shen Yueyue, Vice Chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairperson of the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission of the SCO. Both sides emphasized their shared commitment to strengthening global peace, expanding people-to-people ties, and fostering comprehensive development based on centuries-old traditions of friendship.
In Shanghai, the Turkmen delegation met with Mayor Gong Zheng. Discussions focused on China’s advanced achievements in healthcare and technology, particularly in the fields of child health and rehabilitation. Both sides agreed to continue dialogue to enhance cooperation in these areas.
In addition to official meetings, the delegation visited the historic Gugong Palace complex in Beijing and toured the Chinese Youth Center for Scientific, Technical and Cultural Relations named after Soong Ching Ling, further strengthening cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
The visit of the Turkmen women’s delegation underscored the growing role of humanitarian diplomacy in Turkmenistan–China relations and reaffirmed both sides’ commitment to building stronger bridges of friendship for future generations.
