Brussels, September 04, 2025 – The Europe Today: Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Belgium, Roman Vassilenko, presented his Letters of Credence to King Philippe during a ceremony held at Laeken Palace, the official residence of the Belgian royal family, the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
During the audience, King Philippe extended his warm wishes of well-being and prosperity to the people of Kazakhstan and to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The King fondly recalled President Tokayev’s visit to Brussels in 2021 and their substantive discussions, while also reminiscing about his three visits to Kazakhstan as Crown Prince, noting the lasting impressions of the country’s rich culture, history, and vast development potential.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the current state of Kazakhstan–Belgium relations, which continue to demonstrate steady growth. Ambassador Vassilenko emphasized Belgium’s role as an important partner for Kazakhstan in Europe, identifying green technologies, digitalization, transport logistics, science, and education as priority areas for cooperation. He further highlighted cultural and humanitarian exchanges, including sports, pointing to the upcoming football match between the national teams of Kazakhstan and Belgium on September 7 in Brussels as a vivid example of sports diplomacy fostering friendship and mutual understanding.
King Philippe commended the reform agenda being pursued in Kazakhstan and underlined the significant potential for bilateral cooperation in sustainable development, innovation, and aerospace.
The two sides also discussed the international agenda, stressing the importance of joint efforts to ensure global stability and security, promote multilateral engagement, and strengthen international relations in line with the principles of the UN Charter.
The ceremony took place in an atmosphere of mutual respect and openness, reaffirming the commitment of Kazakhstan and Belgium to deepen political dialogue, strengthen economic ties, and advance shared values on the international stage.
