Jakarta, September 04, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto carried out a high-level diplomatic mission in Beijing on Wednesday, meeting consecutively with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin in less than eight hours.

“Today, in just under eight hours, President Prabowo Subianto was in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, fulfilling a special invitation from President Xi Jinping,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in an official statement released via the Cabinet Secretariat’s social media platforms in Jakarta.

Wijaya explained that President Prabowo had initially been scheduled to attend a series of events starting August 31, but postponed his departure due to domestic considerations. The bilateral meetings with Presidents Xi and Putin were aimed at reinforcing and advancing economic investment cooperation between Indonesia and the two global powers, he added.

The engagements took place on the sidelines of the 80th Anniversary Commemoration of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Victory, which brought together leaders from 26 countries. Indonesia was accorded special recognition during the military parade, with its delegation seated in the front row alongside the host nation.

“Indonesia received a special honor by being seated in the main row alongside the host,” Wijaya underlined.

After completing the tightly scheduled series of meetings, President Prabowo departed Beijing later in the evening and was expected to return to Jakarta the same night.
