Czech Prime Minister Fiala, European Council President Costa Discuss EU Climate Policy, Ukraine, and Global Issues in Brno

Brno, September 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala (Spolu) held talks on Friday with European Council President António Costa at Arnold’s Villa in Brno, addressing key issues on the European agenda, including climate policy, the war in Ukraine, and developments in the Middle East.

Fiala emphasized on social network X that the European Union’s climate policy requires reconsideration to ensure it does not threaten European industry. “It needs to be reconsidered so that it does not threaten industry,” he stated.

Costa, in his own post on the platform, highlighted that discussions also covered continued support for Ukraine as it faces the fourth year of Russian military aggression, the European economy, and the situation in the Middle East.

The meeting formed part of Costa’s ongoing tour of EU member states, aimed at strengthening dialogue on pressing regional and global challenges.
