Jakarta, September 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto has underscored Indonesia’s continued economic stability despite the wave of nationwide protests and riots that shook the country last month.
Speaking during a round-table discussion with editors-in-chief of leading Indonesian media outlets at his residence on Saturday, the president emphasized that the nation’s resilience rests on strong political and economic fundamentals, as well as the collective commitment of the country’s elite and stakeholders to prioritize national interests above personal gains.
“We witnessed demonstrations that turned into riots yesterday, but our economy remains stable,” Prabowo said, according to an official statement released Monday.
He stressed that Indonesia’s stability is a result of rational awareness among decision-makers who safeguard the public interest. “By prioritizing the interests of the nation and the people, I believe we will rise faster,” he noted.
The president further urged citizens to remain cautious in responding to narratives that, he argued, misrepresent Indonesia’s true condition. “I firmly believe that some parties are trying to portray Indonesians as angry right now. I believe our people are mature. There are deficiencies in many places, but we are working to resolve them together,” he remarked.
Highlighting the progress of government initiatives, Prabowo pointed to several economic indicators reflecting positive growth. He cited the Nutritious Free Meal program, which has so far reached 25 million beneficiaries and is expected to expand coverage to nearly 83 million people by the end of this year or early 2026.
The president also reported robust economic activity at the grassroots level, noting improvements in the farmers’ exchange rate and rising agricultural incomes.
“Our policies are producing tangible results, and this gives me confidence that Indonesia will remain steady and continue to move forward,” Prabowo concluded.
