Vienna, September 12, 2025 — The Europe Today: On 11 September 2025, during the meeting of the Permanent Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the delegation of Turkmenistan reiterated the importance of neutrality in international relations. The discussion was held in the context of the presentation of the report by H.E. Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA OSCE), to the Permanent Council.
The Turkmen delegation reaffirmed that the principles of positive neutrality, officially recognized by the United Nations, remain the cornerstone of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy. It was underlined that within the framework of the PA OSCE, Turkmenistan has put forward initiatives aimed at strengthening dialogue and reinforcing neutrality as a means to foster peace and security.
The delegation recalled that Ashgabat successfully hosted two major OSCE PA international conferences in 2023 and 2024, which brought together parliamentarians, experts, and representatives of international organizations to deliberate on issues of peace, cooperation, and security.
At the meeting, the importance of holding regular conferences dedicated to promoting multilateralism and the principles of neutrality was emphasized. Such efforts, the delegation stressed, are crucial tools for enhancing mutual trust and advancing cooperative relations among states.
