Nakhchivan, September 13, 2025 — The Europe Today: Bakhtiyar Mammadov, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, held a meeting on September 12 with a delegation led by Kürşat Zorlu, Deputy Chairman of Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) responsible for relations with Turkic states.
According to media reports, the discussions underscored the pivotal role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s political activities during the Nakhchivan period in laying the foundation for closer ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
Both sides welcomed the fact that, through the joint efforts of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, bilateral relations have advanced to the level of a strategic partnership. The meeting also highlighted Nakhchivan’s special importance within these relations, particularly in light of the anticipated opening of the Zangezur Corridor, which is expected to further strengthen connectivity and cooperation.
