Jakarta, September 13, 2025 — The Europe Today: The Indonesian government will form a special task force to accelerate the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programs, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced on Friday.
The task force will include representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, and the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry. Its mandate is to ensure the effective execution of the budget allocated for key programs and address delays in projects with low budget absorption and limited developmental impact.
Minister Sadewa emphasized that the task force aims to deliver not only immediate results but also long-term benefits for Indonesia’s economic growth. “This team will focus on ensuring programs are carried out effectively, especially those that have experienced setbacks,” he said.
He acknowledged challenges in the first half of 2025, noting that contractions in tax revenue were partly due to a slowdown in government spending. “Perhaps, in the third quarter, spending and the economy slowed down a bit. Nevertheless, I believe everything will turn around in October, November, and December,” he added.
Despite the recent slowdown, Sadewa expressed confidence that revenue and growth targets remain within reach. “Even if actual revenue falls short of projections, the government still has adequate fiscal space. If all programs run as planned, I believe the targets will be achieved and economic growth will reach the levels we predicted earlier,” he affirmed.
President Prabowo has identified eight priority programs for 2026, with substantial budget allocations:
- Food security: Rp164.4 trillion (approx. US$10 billion)
- Energy security: Rp402.4 trillion
- Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program: Rp335 trillion
- Education: Rp757.8 trillion
- Health: Rp244 trillion
- Village cooperatives: Rp181.8 trillion
- Defense: Rp424.8 trillion
- Investment acceleration: Rp530 trillion from the state budget and Rp720 trillion from the sovereign wealth fund Danantara
According to the Finance Minister, the formation of the task force reflects the government’s determination to enhance policy effectiveness and strengthen Indonesia’s resilience in achieving its development goals.
