Washington, September 16, 2025 — The Europe Today: US Congressman Mike Lawler has described Morocco as a “long-standing ally” and a “trusted partner” of the United States in North Africa and the Middle East, while calling for further strengthening of the exceptional alliance dating back to 1777.
In an article published by Daily News titled “Alliances Abroad Keep US Safe at Home”, Lawler emphasized Morocco’s consistency as a reliable partner. “Morocco has been a consistent and trusted partner, and deepening this alliance is crucial as we face threats not only in the Middle East but also across North Africa,” he stated.
Serving as chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Lawler highlighted Morocco’s “pivotal role” in regional and continental security, particularly through strong military cooperation with the United States and active engagement in security initiatives with African countries.
Referring to the “enduring friendship” between the two nations, the congressman recalled his visit to Morocco in August, where he led a bipartisan congressional delegation. During the visit, the delegation reaffirmed Washington’s recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Western Sahara and underscored prospects for enhanced bilateral cooperation. In Rabat, the delegation also held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita on expanding collaboration in various fields.
