Jakarta, September 19, 2025 — The Europe Today: Indonesia has been elected as a member of the Council of Administration (CA) and the Postal Operations Council (POC) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) for the 2025–2029 term, reaffirming its strategic role in shaping the policy direction and operations of global postal and logistics services.

“Indonesia’s election as a member of the CA and POC of the UPU is both an honor and a great responsibility,” said Director General of Digital Ecosystems at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, in a statement on Friday.

He underscored Indonesia’s commitment to voicing the aspirations of developing countries and ensuring that postal services worldwide become more modern, innovative, and inclusive.

As a member of the CA and POC, Indonesia will prioritize three main agendas:

  1. Strengthening member-driven UPU governance to amplify the voices of developing countries in shaping strategic decisions.
  2. Driving digital transformation to maintain the relevance and inclusivity of postal services in the digital and artificial intelligence era.
  3. Expanding inclusiveness within the postal ecosystem by engaging all stakeholders to build resilient and sustainable global postal and logistics networks.

Abdullah emphasized that Indonesia’s membership aims to deliver tangible benefits for communities, particularly by strengthening international postal services to boost the global market reach of Indonesian MSME products.

Indonesia’s participation in the CA and POC is expected to enhance parcel delivery, postal financial services, and logistics in support of e-commerce and the digital economy, while also improving the competitiveness of local enterprises on the international stage.

The appointment was confirmed at the 28th UPU Congress, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from September 7 to 20, 2025. The mandate reflects the confidence of the global postal and logistics community in Indonesia’s active role and contributions to advancing the sector.
