Tehran, September 21, 2025 — The Europe Today: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will travel to New York this week to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), his political advisor Mehdi Sanaei announced on Sunday.
In a statement posted on his X account, Sanaei said President Pezeshkian will depart on Tuesday, following his participation in the opening ceremony of the new academic year in Iran. The president is scheduled to deliver his address to the UNGA on Wednesday morning, Tehran time.
During his visit, Pezeshkian will hold separate meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and officials from various countries. His agenda also includes discussions with think tanks and engagements with members of the Iranian community residing in the United States, according to the advisor.
The 80th session of the UNGA, which formally opened on September 9, will host its general debate beginning September 23. World leaders are expected to outline their priorities under this year’s theme, “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights.”
