Kazakhstan

Islamabad, September 23, 2025 — The Europe Today: The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Pakistan hosted a press briefing on Monday to present the political vision of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as outlined in his recent Address to the Nation titled “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Current Challenges and Solutions through Digital Transformation.”

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin highlighted the key provisions of the presidential address, stressing the importance of digital transformation and innovation for Kazakhstan’s future. He also underscored the significance of regional connectivity projects, particularly President Tokayev’s directive on the construction of the Turghundi–Herat railway and its potential to facilitate access to the Pakistani market.

The Ambassador delivered a detailed presentation on the advantages of this project for Pakistan, noting the opportunities it would create in enhancing trade, transport, and regional cooperation. He further informed participants about progress achieved within the framework of the Kazakhstan–Pakistan Working Group on IT and Telecommunications, emphasizing digital cooperation as a vital component of bilateral ties.

In addition, the briefing covered the outcomes of the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held in Astana on September 17, where Pakistan was represented by a delegation led by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf.

Ambassador Kistafin also reviewed recent milestones in Kazakhstan–Pakistan cooperation, including the 13th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission in Islamabad, a business forum in Karachi in April, and the first official visit of Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu to Islamabad on September 8–9.

Concluding his remarks, the Ambassador noted that Minister Nurtleu’s visit and the successful outcomes of his talks with Pakistani leadership had paved the way for the forthcoming state visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Islamabad later this year.
