Tokayev Meets UN Secretary-General Guterres, Signs Memorandum on Regional Sustainable Development Centre

Astana, September 23, 2025 — The Europe Today: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to discuss the agenda of the ongoing UN General Assembly session, the Akorda press service reported.

During the discussions, President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to supporting the United Nations and actively contributing to its central role in promoting global peace, stability, and sustainable development.

In a significant development during the meeting, a memorandum on the operation of the UN Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan was signed in the presence of both the Kazakh President and the UN Secretary-General.

The agreement underscores Kazakhstan’s active engagement in regional cooperation and its dedication to advancing the United Nations’ sustainable development agenda in Central Asia and Afghanistan.
