New York, September 25, 2025 – The Europe Today: During a working visit to the United States, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Karin Keller-Sutter, President of the Swiss Confederation.
Following a warm greeting, the two leaders expressed satisfaction at the opportunity to meet on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly and exchange views on further developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and Switzerland.
It was emphasized that bilateral relations between the two countries continue to expand consistently, built on mutual understanding, respect, and friendly dialogue. Both Turkmenistan and Switzerland adhere to principles of neutrality in their international activities.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed prospects for partnership in trade and investment, highlighting finance, the pharmaceutical industry, and green energy as promising areas of cooperation. Cultural and humanitarian interaction was also noted as a key component of interstate relations, contributing to closer ties between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Switzerland.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted that 2025, declared by the UN General Assembly at Turkmenistan’s initiative as the “International Year of Peace and Trust,” also marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. To commemorate this milestone, an international forum is scheduled to be held in Ashgabat on December 12. In this context, President Berdimuhamedov extended a formal invitation to President Keller-Sutter to participate in the event.
Expressing her gratitude, President Keller-Sutter acknowledged the significance of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and its initiatives to strengthen international dialogue and foster humanitarian cooperation.
The meeting concluded with the exchange of best wishes between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Karin Keller-Sutter for the continued prosperity of both nations and the friendly relations between their peoples.
