Washington, September 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with the President of the United States in Washington to discuss matters of bilateral interest and exchange views on regional and international issues.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The discussions were joined by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, underscoring the commitment of both sides to strengthening cooperation.
Ahead of the talks, President Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their leadership. Speaking at a ceremony in his office, he described the Pakistani leaders as “great” and expressed anticipation for their visit. “We have a great leader coming. The Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Field Marshal are very great people,” President Trump remarked.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is currently in the United States to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, traveled to Washington for this high-profile engagement. He is scheduled to return to New York later today to deliver his address to the General Assembly.
Upon his arrival at Andrews Air Base, the Prime Minister was accorded a red-carpet reception and was warmly welcomed by a senior U.S. Air Force official. His motorcade then departed for Washington under stringent security arrangements.
