Astana, September 29, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that the official visit of Italian President Sergio Mattarella to Kazakhstan would give a strong impetus to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized that the visit reflects the special friendship and longstanding partnership shared by Kazakhstan and Italy, the Akorda press service reported.
“Mr. President, I am pleased to welcome you here as our guest. This is your first official visit to Kazakhstan, and it is important, because it will undoubtedly open a new chapter in our relations. Kazakhstan and Italy enjoy close cooperation. Mutual trade develops consistently, and we have strong economic contacts. We are achieving high results in various spheres of our cooperation. As President, I am ready to contribute to the strengthening of our relations,” President Tokayev said.
For his part, President Sergio Mattarella expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and underlined the importance of enhancing bilateral ties. He noted that he was pleased to visit Astana and meet with President Tokayev following their meeting in Rome last January.
“From year to year, our economic, trade, and cultural cooperation develops actively. We see that interaction between our universities is also intensifying. Thank you for your friendship,” the Italian leader remarked.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on key issues of bilateral relations, as well as regional and international matters.
On this occasion, President Tokayev also conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
