Karachi, October 1, 2025 – The Europe Today: Governor of Sindh H.E. Kamran Khan Tessori conferred an Honorary PhD degree and a gold medal on H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in recognition of his outstanding efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan.
The distinction was awarded during a special convocation ceremony of the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, held at the Governor House Sindh. The event was attended by senior government officials, parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, the business community, civil society representatives, and media.
In his address, Governor Tessori commended Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula for his remarkable contributions to fostering Ethiopia-Pakistan ties. He highlighted the Ambassador’s pivotal role in initiating the operations of Ethiopian Airlines in Pakistan, describing the airline’s presence as a key instrument in advancing Pakistan’s Look Africa and Engage Africa policies.
Expressing gratitude for the honor, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula hailed Governor Tessori as a “Friend of Ethiopia” and acknowledged his instrumental role in the establishment of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, the facilitation of official and business delegations, and the successful launch of Ethiopian Airlines in Karachi.
Following the convocation, both sides held discussions on further strengthening bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors, including trade, investment, aviation, environment, education, health, culture, and tourism. They reaffirmed their commitment to deepen Ethiopia-Pakistan relations through enhanced collaboration across these key areas.
