Tehran, October 2, 2025 – The Europe Today: Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s interception of the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla and the detention of activists seeking to break the blockade of the Palestinian territory.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei described the assault on the civilian-led convoy as a “blatant violation of international principles” and “an act of terror.”
He commended the flotilla’s participants—parliamentarians, lawyers, and activists from around the world—for their humanitarian efforts and their commitment to raising global awareness of the plight of the Palestinian people.
Highlighting what he called the continued ethnic cleansing and killing of civilians in Gaza, Baghaei stressed the legal, moral, and humanitarian duty of governments to end the “genocide in occupied Palestine” and hold those responsible accountable. He urged the international community to take urgent and decisive action in response to the incident.
The Global Sumud Flotilla, comprising more than 40 boats and nearly 500 participants from 37 countries, has been widely recognized as a symbol of resistance against Israel’s blockade of Gaza. On Wednesday evening, Israeli forces boarded 13 of the vessels in international waters, detaining more than 200 people. The operation has sparked global protests and diplomatic rebukes.
