Ganja, October 5, 2025 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijani fencers showcased commendable performances at the 3rd Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Games, currently being hosted in Azerbaijan, securing two bronze medals in the women’s saber category.
The competitions, held at the Ganja Sports Palace, saw national athletes Zarifa Huseynova and Valentina Zeynalova advance impressively to the semifinals. Despite strong efforts, both athletes were defeated by their Russian counterparts, earning well-deserved third-place finishes for the Azerbaijani national team.
The achievements highlight Azerbaijan’s growing strength in fencing and its successful role as host of the ongoing multi-sport event.
