Ethiopian and Kyrgyz Ambassadors Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation in Islamabad

Islamabad, October 7, 2025 – The Europe Today: H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) to the Kyrgyz Republic with residence in Islamabad, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Kylychbek Sultan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic, at the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the two ambassadors discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and Kyrgyzstan, including the planned visit of the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic to Addis Ababa and the forthcoming opening of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ethiopia.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal welcomed the decision to open the Kyrgyz Embassy in Addis Ababa, describing it as a milestone that would mark a new chapter in the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries. He also recalled his visit to Bishkek and expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to him by the Kyrgyz leadership and senior officials.

The Ethiopian envoy briefed Ambassador Kylychbek Sultan on the political, economic, social, and legal reforms being implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, highlighting Ethiopia’s commitment to inclusive development and regional cooperation.

Ambassador Kylychbek Sultan commended the transformative progress achieved by Ethiopia in recent years under the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. He expressed confidence that the solid foundations established through mutual engagement would further expand cooperation between the two nations in political, economic, cultural, and educational spheres.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening diplomatic ties and strengthening collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
