President Ilham Aliyev Meets Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President Ersin Tatar

Gabala, October 7, 2025 – The Europe Today:  On October 6, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a meeting with Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), in the city of Gabala.

President Ersin Tatar warmly recalled his previous meetings with President Ilham Aliyev in Azerbaijan and on the sidelines of various international events, including his participation in the informal Summit of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Shusha.

Expressing gratitude to President Aliyev for his continuous support toward the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, President Tatar noted the significance of Azerbaijan’s steadfast stance on the matter.

President Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed that Azerbaijan will continue to support the TRNC, emphasizing the importance of solidarity within the Turkic world.

During the meeting, President Ersin Tatar congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the progress achieved in advancing the peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly the agreements reached in Washington with the participation of the President of the United States.

President Aliyev expressed appreciation for the congratulations and reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to lasting peace and regional cooperation.

The sides also highlighted the importance of the TRNC’s participation in the Organization of Turkic States as an observer, noting that this strengthens unity and mutual understanding among member and observer countries.

Additionally, both leaders underlined the significance of the Summit held in Gabala in further deepening the partnership and collaboration within the OTS framework.

The meeting concluded with discussions on enhancing cooperation in various spheres, reflecting the shared vision of Azerbaijan and the TRNC for closer ties across political, economic, and cultural domains.
