Baku, October 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković issued joint statements to the press in Baku on Wednesday following their bilateral meeting, reaffirming their commitment to deepening interparliamentary cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Speaker Gafarova described the official visit of her Croatian counterpart as a significant milestone marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia. She expressed confidence that the visit would further enhance cooperation between the two nations and their respective legislative bodies.
The discussions highlighted the key role of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing mutual ties, emphasizing the active engagement of friendship groups in both parliaments, the regular participation of parliamentary delegations in events hosted by each side, and close collaboration within various international parliamentary organizations.
Gafarova underscored the broad opportunities for expanding interparliamentary relations, noting that Jandroković’s visit reflects a shared determination to make full use of these opportunities to further strengthen Azerbaijan–Croatia cooperation.
In his remarks, Speaker Gordan Jandroković commended the strong and friendly relations between the two countries, describing Croatia and Azerbaijan as strategic partners engaged in an active political dialogue and robust economic cooperation. He praised Azerbaijan’s remarkable economic development and its significant role not only in the South Caucasus but also in the broader regional context.
Jandroković also reiterated Croatia’s firm support for the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, expressing optimism about continued progress in regional stability and cooperation.
He reaffirmed Croatia’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation between the two legislative institutions and enhancing the overall partnership between Zagreb and Baku.
