Islamabad, October 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: The diplomatic community in Islamabad organized a warm and heartfelt farewell in honor of H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan.
The special ceremony, hosted by the Office of the Dean of Diplomatic Corps in Islamabad, brought together members of the diplomatic community, including H.E. Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Secretary (Africa) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with ambassadors and diplomats from various countries.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula expressed deep gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for their continued support and hospitality during his tenure. He highlighted several key milestones achieved in Ethiopia–Pakistan relations under his leadership, including the establishment of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, the launch of Ethiopian Airlines operations in Pakistan, and the exchange of high-level delegations between the two nations.
Dr. Jemal noted that Ethiopia and Pakistan today enjoy robust bilateral and multilateral cooperation, working together toward shared growth and prosperity.
H.E. Atadjan Movlamov, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Islamabad and Ambassador of Turkmenistan, paid tribute to Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, describing him as “one of the most active and friendly ambassadors in Islamabad,” and “a true Friend of Pakistan.” He also commended Dr. Jemal’s efforts in fostering Ethio–Turkmenistan relations in his capacity as Non-Resident Ambassador to Turkmenistan.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan lauded Dr. Jemal Beker’s instrumental role in strengthening Ethiopia–Pakistan relations and advancing broader connectivity between Africa and Pakistan. He particularly praised the Ambassador’s contribution to the successful launch of Ethiopian Airlines in Pakistan and the promotion of Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative, which has helped deepen fraternity and environmental cooperation between the two nations.
The ceremony concluded with expressions of appreciation from fellow diplomats, acknowledging Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula’s dynamic leadership, diplomatic vision, and lasting legacy in strengthening Ethiopia–Pakistan ties.
