Mohammedia, October 12, 2025 – The Europe Today: In a vibrant evening at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the American Chamber of Commerce in Morocco (AmCham) celebrated two major milestones — 240 years of U.S.–Morocco friendship and the 20th anniversary of the U.S.–Morocco Free Trade Agreement. The event brought together business leaders, policymakers, and innovators to highlight the enduring partnership and growing economic collaboration between the two nations.

The ceremony opened with a video presentation retracing the long and historic ties between the United States and Morocco, underscoring that Morocco was the first country to recognize the independence of the United States.

In his welcoming remarks, AmCham President Azzedine Kettani expressed appreciation to the event’s sponsors, including OCP, Coca-Cola, Visa, Ulmes, Ebertek, and Hyatt. “We are pleased to see you, and we are pleased to help the American-Moroccan business. This has been our goal since we began our work at AmCham in 1966,” Kettani said, reaffirming the Chamber’s commitment to fostering bilateral commerce and investment.

The evening also featured an awards ceremony recognizing leading Moroccan and American companies for their contributions to trade, innovation, and social impact.

Saad Boughaba of TE Connectivity accepted the AmCham OCP Moroccan-American Trade and Investment Award 2025, emphasizing the company’s advanced engineering and design work in the automotive and electrical sectors. He noted that TE Connectivity’s Moroccan operations oversee projects from concept to industrialization, delivering cutting-edge solutions for both local and global markets.

Another award honored OLEA Capital’s brand, Zouitina, for excellence in agribusiness. Representing the company, Amal Dembri described Zouitina’s production of extra-virgin olive oil and table olives cultivated across 3,000 integrated hectares. She highlighted the firm’s traceability and quality control systems, as well as its plans to expand into the U.S. market while promoting Moroccan agricultural excellence internationally.

Laila Slassi Sennou, President of EFE-Morocco, was recognized for her organization’s efforts to bridge the gap between youth training and employment. She underscored the need for greater investment in skills development, stating, “Today more than ever, it’s time to invest in youth and in their training to help them inspire others,” and called for sustained engagement from both donors and corporate partners.

Jamila Bargach, Executive Director of the Dar Si Hmad Foundation, received a certificate of appreciation for the foundation’s pioneering fog-harvesting project in southern Morocco. The initiative provides clean water to rural communities while advancing environmental education and women’s empowerment. Bargach thanked AmCham for the recognition and stressed the need for sustainable solutions to address water scarcity.

Throughout the evening, AmCham also honored additional Moroccan companies and organizations for their achievements in innovation, corporate responsibility, and international trade.

Founded in 1966, AmCham Morocco has played a pivotal role in promoting U.S.–Morocco economic cooperation. The organization continues to support businesses, facilitate strategic partnerships, and strengthen bilateral relations — serving as a key platform for dialogue, collaboration, and recognition of excellence across industries.
