Trabzon, October 12, 2025 – The Europe Today: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday urged Israel to fully implement its commitments under the newly brokered Gaza ceasefire deal, stressing that the international community and the Islamic world now face “a far greater test.”
Speaking in the Black Sea city of Trabzon, President Erdogan highlighted the urgent need to sustain peace efforts and ensure humanitarian aid reaches civilians in Gaza without obstruction.
“Now a much greater test awaits the Islamic world and humanity,” Erdogan said, calling on Tel Aviv to uphold its pledges under the agreement.
He noted that humanitarian assistance under the deal had already begun flowing into Gaza, including trucks sent by Türkiye, which have started to arrive in the war-torn enclave. “Efforts have accelerated, and Türkiye’s aid trucks have also begun reaching Gaza,” he said.
Erdogan emphasized the need for swift action before winter conditions exacerbate the suffering of displaced Palestinians. “Steps must be taken before winter sets in. The people of Gaza must be rescued from makeshift shelters,” he said, reaffirming Ankara’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people.
Turning to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, which is nearing its fourth year, the Turkish president expressed hope for a swift resolution to the conflict. “We hope this war will end as soon as possible, and we are ready to do whatever is necessary to help achieve that goal,” Erdogan said.
He added that Ankara remains in close contact with both Moscow and Kyiv to facilitate dialogue, stop the fighting, and promote peace, underscoring that Türkiye continues to prioritize stability and security in the Black Sea region.
Erdogan’s remarks reaffirm Türkiye’s dual role as a humanitarian actor in the Middle East and a mediator in the broader Eurasian security landscape.
