Jakarta, October 13, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) to prepare peacekeeping troops for potential deployment to the Gaza Strip, contingent on the outcome of the Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt and approval from the United Nations Security Council.
The statement was delivered by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi following a meeting at President Prabowo’s private residence in Jakarta on Sunday. The meeting was also attended by TNI Vice Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita.
Hadi stated, “If a constructive agreement is reached, a troop deployment is possible. Should the talks lead to a positive outcome or peace, one consequence could be a deployment involving Indonesia.”
Following the meeting, President Prabowo is scheduled to depart for Egypt to participate in the Gaza Peace Summit.
“President Prabowo received the invitation on October 11 and decided to attend, as it forms part of the ongoing negotiations that, God willing, will bring peace to Palestine,” Hadi added.
He further emphasized that Prabowo’s participation highlights Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining strong diplomatic relations and supporting international peace efforts.
Earlier, during his address at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York last September, Prabowo had proposed deploying 20,000 Indonesian troops as peacekeepers.
He had stated, “If mandated by the Security Council and the General Assembly, Indonesia is ready to deploy 20,000 or more troops to maintain peace in Gaza or elsewhere — in Ukraine, Sudan, or Libya.”
