Bucharest, October 14, 2025 – The Europe Today: Romanian Foreign Minister, Oana Țoiu signed a comprehensive cooperation plan with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger on Monday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest, marking a new chapter in the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The agreement outlines a clear roadmap for Romania and Austria to work more closely together, enhance communication, and coordinate joint actions on key issues of mutual interest. The Romanian minister expressed appreciation to both delegations for their dedicated work in advancing bilateral relations.
Earlier in the day, the two ministers co-chaired a business roundtable bringing together Romanian and Austrian entrepreneurs to discuss ways to support Romanian companies seeking to expand into Austria and to promote quality Austrian investments in Romania.
“Economic diplomacy is a fundamental pillar of our future plans,” the Romanian foreign minister said, highlighting Austria’s role as the second-largest foreign investor in Romania. Together, the two countries generate around 100,000 jobs and have projects attracting over €14 billion in investments, with strong potential for further growth through closer cooperation.
The talks also addressed support for the large Romanian community in Austria, including improved access to mother-tongue education—mirroring Romania’s own efforts to provide German-language education for minority communities.
Emphasizing that strong relations are built not only through official agreements but also through shared experiences, the ministers visited the EDU-CAMPUS Concordia project in Vienna, supported by Austria’s Federal Ministry of Education. The initiative showcases dual education and inclusion programs designed for students from vulnerable backgrounds.
“I am glad to have in Beate not only a reliable partner but also a friend of Romania—someone with the courage and vision to work every day for the future of the European Union,” the Romanian minister remarked, underscoring the personal and professional rapport between the two officials.
