Jakarta, October 16, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy has initiated discussions with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) to explore potential collaboration aimed at strengthening creative industry ties between the two nations — particularly through business matchmaking in the music sector.
The talks were held during a meeting between the two sides in Jakarta on Tuesday, marking a step toward deeper cooperation in creative content development and cross-cultural exchange.
“We want to emphasize that collaboration with KOCCA should evolve into a long-term, continuous partnership that enhances business matchmaking between Indonesia and Korea’s creative industries,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar in a statement on Wednesday.
Umar expressed optimism that the partnership would open new opportunities and further strengthen Indonesia’s creative economy ecosystem, noting that music is among the country’s seven priority subsectors and offers vast potential, particularly through live concerts and performance-based activities.
“We aim to build a collaboration that is mutually beneficial and results-oriented, contributing to the sustainable growth of Indonesia’s creative industry,” she added.
Lee Gi Haun, Regional Director of KOCCA Indonesia, welcomed the initiative and highlighted the upcoming K-Life and K-Live concerts—scheduled to take place in Indonesia in early 2026—as opportunities to stimulate local creative industry growth.
He emphasized that the concerts would not only celebrate Korean music and culture in Indonesia but also serve as platforms for business engagement between Korean and Indonesian companies.
Lee further noted that future collaboration could extend beyond the music industry, encompassing character-based intellectual property (IP), cosmetics, and food sectors, reflecting the dynamic and multi-faceted nature of both nations’ creative economies.
KOCCA, an agency under South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, plays a central role in overseeing and promoting the country’s content industries, including music, gaming, animation, and comics, and serves as a key partner in expanding Korea’s global cultural influence.
