Ashgabat hosts Fourth Meeting of Turkmenistan–UN Strategic Advisory Council

Ashgabat, October 17, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Thursday hosted the fourth meeting of the Turkmenistan–United Nations Strategic Advisory Council.

The session brought together Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, heads and representatives of national ministries and agencies, the Deputy Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, as well as heads and experts of UN agencies’ permanent missions and other participants.

The agenda focused on reviewing the Framework Program for Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations for 2026–2030, discussing joint actions to implement initiatives reflected in Turkmenistan’s priority positions presented at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, and exchanging views on the implementation of the final documents of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3). The meeting also discussed the development of joint Turkmenistan–UN programs.

In his remarks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan emphasized the strategic and long-term nature of the country’s cooperation with the UN system, highlighting the significant contribution of UN agencies to the implementation of Turkmenistan’s national priorities and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Particular attention was drawn to Turkmenistan’s initiatives presented at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, which cover key areas such as peace and security, sustainable transport, digital integration, environmental protection, water resource management, youth and humanitarian cooperation, and the promotion of neutrality and international law.

At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of UN agencies in Turkmenistan reaffirmed their readiness to work closely with national partners to ensure the practical implementation of Turkmenistan’s international and regional initiatives arising from its priority positions voiced at the 80th UN General Assembly, as well as to assist in the effective implementation of the outcomes of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3).
