AS FAR Secure CAF Champions League Group Stage Berth with Commanding Win Over Horoya AC

AS FAR

Rabat, October 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: AS FAR cruised into the CAF Champions League group stage after a dominant 3-0 victory over Horoya AC in the second leg on Saturday, sealing a 4-1 aggregate triumph.

The match began sluggishly for the Moroccan outfit, who initially struggled to break down Horoya’s defensive structure. Misplaced passes and ineffective long balls limited their attacking threat early on. AS FAR came close in the 10th minute when Ait Ouarkhane failed to convert a one-on-one opportunity following a defensive lapse by Salif Coulibaly.

Despite the slow start, momentum shifted when Horoya were reduced to ten men in the 23rd minute after Mamady Mara was shown a red card for a high challenge on Ait Ouarkhane. AS FAR capitalised on their numerical advantage, increasing the pressure as the half progressed.

Their breakthrough came in the 40th minute when Rabie Hrimat calmly converted a penalty awarded for a handball inside the box, giving the home side a 1-0 lead at half-time.

In the second half, Horoya’s situation worsened as they were further reduced to nine men in the 80th minute following a second yellow card for Amadou Ajibo. AS FAR continued to dominate possession and dictate the pace of the game.

The second goal arrived in the 70th minute through an unfortunate own goal by Ibrahima Khabba, who mishandled a cross from Youssef El Fahli. Jamal Ech-chamakh sealed the victory with a spectacular long-range effort deep into stoppage time, rounding off a comprehensive performance.

The Askaris maintained control throughout the match, preventing Horoya from creating any clear scoring opportunities, and their convincing victory ensured qualification for the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
