47th ASEAN Summit

Sepang, October 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: United States President Donald Trump arrived in Malaysia on Sunday (Oct 26) to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit, marking his maiden official visit to the country since returning to office.

Touching down at the Bunga Raya Complex of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), President Trump engaged in a brief light-hearted moment upon arrival. As part of the welcoming ceremony, he joined performers for a few dance steps from the red carpet, drawing smiles from onlookers before interacting warmly with the troupe.

At 10:13 a.m., Trump entered the presidential state car, popularly known as “The Beast,” accompanied by Prime Minister Anwar. The leaders are headed to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, where they will participate in the ASEAN Summit and related meetings.

The arrival was secured by a heavily guarded motorcade, reflecting the high level of security in place for the visit.

With this trip, Trump becomes the third U.S. president in history to visit Malaysia, following in the footsteps of Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966 and Barack Obama in 2014 and 2015.

President Trump’s attendance underscores Washington’s continued engagement with Southeast Asia, as leaders gather to discuss regional cooperation, economic development, and evolving geopolitical challenges.
