JakartaOctober 27, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto underscored the significance of a strategic partnership between ASEAN and the United States to achieve a peaceful, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

Speaking at the 13th ASEAN–US Summit held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) in Malaysia on Sunday, President Prabowo emphasized that the United States has long been, and must continue to be, a vital partner in fostering regional growth and peace.

“The United States has long been, and must continue to be, a partner in growth and peace in the Indo-Pacific. As a growth partner, US engagement has helped build a stronger, more connected ASEAN,”
President Prabowo stated, according to a release from the Presidential Secretariat.

He noted that cooperation with the US has contributed significantly to strengthening ASEAN’s economic integration and competitiveness.

Highlighting ASEAN’s success as a product of openness and collaboration, the President pointed out that the regional bloc has become the world’s fifth-largest economy, generating over 625,000 American jobs through annual exports worth US$122 billion.

In addressing the evolving geopolitical landscape, President Prabowo called for the Indo-Pacific to remain an open, predictable, and inclusive region, where all nations can thrive in peace and mutual respect.

Touching on humanitarian issues, the Indonesian leader reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for global efforts toward peace in the Middle East, particularly in Palestine.

“Indonesia appreciates the outcomes of the Sharm El Sheikh Summit for Peace and your leadership, Mr. President (Donald Trump), in advancing a credible roadmap toward lasting peace,”
he said.

President Prabowo reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to contribute to humanitarian aid and post-conflict reconstruction in Gaza, including readiness to participate in multinational stabilization missions and deploy peacekeeping forces to protect civilians and maintain order.

Concluding his remarks, President Prabowo urged both ASEAN and the United States to “stand on the right side of history” by fostering genuine partnerships for peace, sustainable cooperation, and shared prosperity that benefit not only their peoples but also the wider world.
