Sofia, October 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: Romanian baritone Mihai Damian has been awarded the First Prize at the 2025 edition of the Operalia competition, sharing the top award with Georgian mezzo-soprano Ekaterine Buachidze.
The finals of Operalia 2025 took place at the Bulgarian Concert Hall in Sofia, with the overall competition running from 20 to 26 October. In addition to the First Prize, Mihai Damian received the Rolex Prize of the Audience and a Special Prize awarded by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture.
The prestigious Operalia competition, founded by Plácido Domingo, is globally recognized as one of the premier platforms for young opera singers, and Damian’s achievement marks a significant milestone in his artistic career.
