Speech by Dr. Ghazala Khan

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim,

Honourable Ambassador of Turkmenistan, distinguished diplomats, esteemed organizers, ladies and gentlemen — Assalam-o-Alaikum.

It is truly an honour to join this distinguished gathering to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality, celebrated globally under the inspiring theme of “The Year of Peace and Trust 2025.”

Turkmenistan’s journey as a neutral and peace-loving nation is a remarkable example of how wisdom, vision, and leadership can transform a country’s global standing. Under the visionary guidance of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, His Excellency Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan has shown how neutrality can become a powerful tool for peace, progress, and cooperation in an increasingly complex world.

The policy of Permanent Neutrality, officially recognized by the United Nations in 1995, is not just a diplomatic status — it is the soul of Turkmenistan’s national identity. It represents a deep commitment to peaceful coexistence, respect for sovereignty, and the belief that nations can prosper together through dialogue rather than division.

His Excellency Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has played a historic role in transforming this philosophy into a living model of development and diplomacy. Through his farsighted leadership, Turkmenistan has built bridges of friendship across continents — promoting peace through cultural exchange, economic cooperation, and humanitarian diplomacy.

Today, Turkmenistan stands tall as a symbol of peace and trust, engaging constructively with its neighbours while maintaining its independent, balanced, and principled foreign policy. This is not an easy path in today’s geopolitical realities — yet Turkmenistan continues to prove that neutrality can coexist with dynamism and progress.

Ladies and gentlemen,

As a representative of Pakistan’s National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), I see deep relevance in Turkmenistan’s vision. Both our nations believe in human development as the foundation of peace. Skills, education, and youth empowerment are essential to building societies that thrive on stability, respect, and cooperation.

Pakistan greatly values its brotherly relations with Turkmenistan, rooted in shared history, culture, and regional aspirations. Projects like the TAPI gas pipeline, initiatives in education, energy, and connectivity, and our joint participation in regional forums reflect our shared commitment to mutual growth and enduring peace.

I would like to appreciate The Gulf Observer and The Embassy of Turkmenistan for organizing this timely dialogue — a platform that strengthens understanding and highlights how Turkmenistan’s Neutrality Policy has become a universal message of harmony.

In conclusion, let us celebrate not just 30 years of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, but 30 years of vision, wisdom, and unwavering faith in peace. The world needs such examples now more than ever.

May the friendship between Pakistan and Turkmenistan continue to grow stronger, and may the vision of National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov keep guiding the world toward peace, trust, and human dignity.

Thank you.
