Samarkand, November 01, 2025 – The Europe Today: A delegation led by Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamyradov is participating in the 43rd session of the General Conference of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), being held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from October 30 to November 13, 2025.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ch. Rustamova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO; M. Charyev, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the French Republic and Permanent Representative to UNESCO; and Sh. Meredov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The session’s agenda focuses on a wide range of global priorities, including empowering youth, strengthening peace and social unity, integrating cultures in the digital era, promoting sustainable tourism, and preserving cultural heritage. It also highlights the importance of enhancing cooperation and experience exchange among national commissions for UNESCO.
In his address to the conference, Minister A. Shamyradov underscored the key directions of Turkmenistan’s engagement with UNESCO and emphasized the vital role of international collaboration in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He noted that Turkmenistan’s active participation in UNESCO’s activities contributes to strengthening mutual understanding among nations and advancing shared objectives in education, science, culture, and communication.
The Turkmen delegation’s participation in the conference reaffirms the country’s commitment to fostering constructive dialogue, safeguarding cultural heritage, and promoting global peace and development through multilateral cooperation.
