Doha, November 05, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Asif Ali Zardari has invited Tajikistan to explore new avenues of trade and connectivity through Pakistan, including the restoration of direct flights between the two countries.
The President extended the invitation during a meeting with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, held on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar.
President Zardari underscored that Pakistan greatly values its multifaceted relationship with Tajikistan, which is rooted in shared history, culture, and linguistic affinity. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas including trade, investment, connectivity, energy, defence, and people-to-people exchanges.
Highlighting the significance of the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed in 2024, President Zardari noted that it reflects the growing depth of relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan. He also welcomed the resumption of work on the CASA-1000 energy project, describing it as a flagship initiative for regional prosperity and sustainable development.
The President commended the successful Dosti-II joint military exercise held in August this year and reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to assist Tajikistan in defence cooperation and capacity-building efforts.
During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest and reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing peace, stability, and economic cooperation in the region.
President Rahmon extended an invitation to President Zardari to visit Tajikistan, which the Pakistani President graciously accepted.
The meeting was also attended by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar.
