Jakarta, November 07, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesia will resume reciprocal tariff negotiations with the United States next week, Trade Minister Budi Santoso confirmed on Friday. While the exact date of the talks has not yet been finalized, the minister noted that the negotiations are not conducted daily, as the United States is simultaneously holding similar discussions with other countries.
“Next week, yes. The next round of negotiations will be scheduled,” Santoso said in Jakarta.
Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the reciprocal tariff negotiations are in their finalization stage, pending approval from President Prabowo Subianto and U.S. President Donald Trump.
“The principle agreement has been approved by President Prabowo and President Trump,” Hartarto said, adding that the legal drafting of the agreement is currently underway and expressing hope for a smooth process.
Hartarto explained that commodities exempted from tariffs will include those produced in Indonesia but not cultivated in the United States, and vice versa. “Vice versa—so, for example, palm, cocoa, and chocolate. They will be given zero tariffs,” he noted.
The United States had previously imposed a 19 percent reciprocal tariff on Indonesian products, down from an initial rate of 32 percent. The two countries agreed on the 19 percent rate following a phone call between President Subianto and President Trump.
