Kazakhstan, United States Sign MoU on Critical Minerals Cooperation in Presence of President Tokayev

Washington, D.C.November 07, 2025 – The Europe Today: Kazakhstan and the United States have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of critical minerals, the Akorda Press Service reported. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The agreement was signed by Yersaiyn Nagaspayev, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry and Construction, and Howard Lutnick, U.S. Secretary of Commerce. The MoU aims to enhance collaboration in the sustainable development, exploration, and processing of critical minerals, which are vital for advancing clean energy technologies and industrial innovation.

Earlier, President Tokayev arrived in Washington, D.C., where he was welcomed by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau. The Kazakh leader began his official visit with a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other senior representatives of President Donald Trump’s Administration, focusing on strengthening strategic cooperation between the two nations.

The signing of the MoU marks a significant milestone in the Kazakhstan–U.S. partnership, underscoring both countries’ shared commitment to advancing energy security, economic diversification, and technological collaboration.
