Malaysia Makes US Reciprocal Trade Agreement Documents Publicly Accessible

Malaysia

PutrajayaNovember 07, 2025 – The Europe Today: Official documents pertaining to the Malaysia-United States Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) are now publicly accessible on the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) website, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced on Friday.

The documents can be viewed at www.miti.gov.my/ART, alongside a detailed frequently asked questions section addressing key issues and public concerns regarding the agreement.

Datuk Fahmi, who also serves as the government spokesperson, said the Cabinet had thoroughly deliberated on the agreement during its meeting earlier on Friday.

“There is no issue as alleged by a particular Member of Parliament during the Prime Minister’s Question Time at the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Nov 4). The matter has been thoroughly reviewed by the Cabinet,” he told reporters during his weekly press briefing. On Nov 4, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim assured the Dewan Rakyat that the agreement contains no provisions conflicting with the Federal Constitution.

The Communications Minister noted that the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) played a key role in vetting the agreement to ensure full compliance with Malaysian law.

Malaysia and the United States signed the ART on October 26 during US President Donald Trump’s visit to Malaysia for the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur. The agreement, proposed by Washington, seeks to renegotiate tariffs on Malaysian goods, reducing them from 25% to 19% under Executive Order 14257 issued by President Trump on April 2.

Prime Minister Anwar also reiterated that the agreement safeguards bumiputra interests and that any enforcement action under the deal would remain subject to Malaysia’s domestic laws.
