Baku, November 08, 2025 – The Europe Today: On November 7, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a limited format meeting with Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
President Ilham Aliyev warmly welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif upon his arrival, and the two leaders posed together for an official photograph before commencing discussions.
During the meeting, President Aliyev expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani Prime Minister for attending the military parade to be held in Baku on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s glorious Victory in the Patriotic War, describing his participation as a symbol of brotherhood between the two nations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his deep appreciation for the invitation and expressed his honor in joining the celebrations, extending heartfelt congratulations to President Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan on the remarkable anniversary. He noted that Islamabad was adorned with Azerbaijan’s tricolor flag in celebration of Azerbaijan’s Victory.
President Aliyev thanked the Pakistani leader for his kind words and warm gesture of solidarity.
The two leaders praised the ongoing development of fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan across multiple sectors, emphasizing their mutual support within international organizations. They commended the growth in bilateral trade turnover and discussed ways to further expand economic and commercial cooperation in line with the strong political ties.
It was highlighted that Azerbaijan’s application of preferential trade tariffs on rice and 15 other Pakistani products serves as an important factor in promoting trade and strengthening economic relations.
The sides also recalled the successful Intergovernmental Commission meeting held earlier this year and explored opportunities for cooperation in the military and military-technical fields.
Both leaders agreed to facilitate upcoming mutual visits by government delegations and business representatives to deepen bilateral engagement.
Discussions further covered the participation of Pakistani companies in reconstruction and development projects in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, underscoring the importance of practical collaboration in post-war development efforts.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on the future prospects of bilateral relations, reaffirming the shared commitment of Azerbaijan and Pakistan to advancing their strategic partnership based on friendship, trust, and mutual respect.
