JakartaNovember 15, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesia is fully prepared to host the IFCPF Asia-Oceania Cup 2025 in Solo, Central Java, beginning Sunday, November 16, with seven participating nations vying for qualification spots in the 2026 Cerebral Palsy Football World Cup.

Ashley Hammond, CEO of the International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football (IFCPF), commended Indonesia’s readiness and confirmed that all match venues were in optimal condition ahead of the tournament. Matches will be held at Sriwedari Stadium, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Stadium, and Kota Barat Field, which will simultaneously function as a training venue.

“This is the third IFCPF event this year after the European Championship in the U.K. and Copa America in Uruguay. We expect the championship in Indonesia to run smoothly,” Hammond said in a statement released in Jakarta on Friday. He added that since arriving in Solo, he had been impressed by the strong coordination and meticulous preparation of the organizing committee.

“When I left the airport, I could smile because Indonesia is hosting this event very well. Every meeting with the committee produces results. We hope this becomes a world-class event,” he remarked.

IFCPF Technical Delegate Sam Turner echoed this sentiment, praising the facilities and noting the rich heritage of Sriwedari Stadium, which previously hosted a multi-sport event for disabled athletes in the Asia-Pacific region in 1986. “Sriwedari has a strong heritage. We hope the opening and closing ceremonies will be spectacular there,” Turner said.

Seven nations will compete in this year’s championship: Indonesia, Australia, Japan, Iran, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand. The top two teams will secure automatic qualification for the 2026 IFCPF World Cup in the United States.

Indonesia has been placed in Group A alongside Australia and Japan, while Group B consists of Iran, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand. Iran enters the tournament as the 2024 champion and the top seed, with Australia ranked as the second seed at 12th in the world.

The event is expected to further strengthen Indonesia’s reputation as a capable and committed host for international sporting competitions.
