Rasht, November 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: On November 18–19, 2025, a Turkmen delegation led by H. Ashyrmyradov, Hyakim of Balkan Velayat, paid a working visit to Iran’s Gilan Province to participate in the First Meeting of Governors of Coastal Regions of the Caspian Littoral States, held in the city of Rasht.
The high-level gathering brought together senior officials from the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, governors of the Caspian coastal regions, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and other distinguished guests.
Focus on Regional Cooperation
Speeches at the event were delivered by key Iranian officials, including:
- Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Mohammadreza Salehi Amiri, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism
- Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Hadi Hagshenas, Governor of Gilan Province
H. Ashyrmyradov, Governor of Balkan Velayat, also addressed the gathering, along with governors from other Caspian littoral regions and Iranian provinces bordering the Persian Gulf.
In their remarks, speakers highlighted the importance of strengthening trade and economic cooperation among the Caspian states, exploring new areas of engagement, and expanding interaction with regions along the Persian Gulf.
Bilateral Meetings and Port Visit
During the visit, Hyakim Ashyrmyradov held bilateral meetings with:
- Igor Babushkin, Governor of Russia’s Astrakhan Region
- Hadi Hagshenas, Governor of Iran’s Gilan Province
These discussions focused on enhancing regional cooperation and identifying new opportunities for partnership in trade, transport, and economic development.
The Turkmen delegation also toured the port facilities in the Anzali Free Trade Zone, where they were briefed on the port’s logistics capabilities and viewed an exhibition showcasing the economic potential of Gilan Province.
The visit underscored Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Caspian littoral states and fostering broader interregional partnerships.
