Lankaran, November 22, 2025 – The Europe Today: Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and Arzu Aliyeva visited the family of Azerbaijani National Hero Panjali Teymurov in the Astara district on Thursday, paying tribute to the memory of the distinguished serviceman who sacrificed his life during the April battles.
During the visit, the delegation honored the legacy of Panjali Teymurov and was briefed on his exceptional service to the motherland, including his professionalism, dedication, and acts of bravery as a member of the Azerbaijani Special Forces.
Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva also toured the house-museum established to immortalize the hero’s memory. The museum showcases the life, service, and patriotic legacy of Teymurov, reflecting the deep respect held for him in his native region.
Panjali Nurmahammad oghlu Teymurov, born on March 24, 1981, in Azarud village of Astara, served in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces for 17 years. He was martyred during the April 2016 battles, leaving behind a legacy of courage and devotion to the nation.
In recognition of his service, Teymurov received multiple awards throughout his military career. He was posthumously awarded the “For the Motherland” medal in 2016. On November 7, 2025, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, conferred upon him the prestigious title of National Hero of Azerbaijan, further cementing his place among the country’s most revered patriots.
